Kuivalainen comments –
This is a sacral landscape with a cult image depicting Bacchus, as attested by the various thyrsi, cantharus, and kraters, and the offering followers: a maenad and a small satyr (Comus?). The herms, the one in front Priapic, also suit his cult well. Customarily for sacral landscapes, the shrine is depicted next to a leafy tree.
